I've been enjoying reading through a devotional that really isn't a devotional.  Does that make sense? Not actually, only yes, it does.  E'er Nosotros Begin Again by Leeana Tankersley is a series of short essays on the many means nosotros showtime over every day of our lives. They're non only relatable short stories but they include a guided writing prompt that can help each reader deal with their own beginnings.

Here'south what I've learned, am learning or have establish to exist true:

The profound yet unproblematic concept that we are constantly starting over is part of daily life.
God speaks to us in many ways during our stressful, busy days. Focusing on the issue of the moment, with God as our partner, until we discover the manner through, will help calm our minds and pb to a solution.
We are held deeply in God'southward artillery. No matter the circumstances He keeps belongings on.
There are multiple opportunities in our days and lives to begin once again, to start over. Simply as the lord's day rises new each twenty-four hours information technology also sets and gives us the opportunity to rest and reverberate.
Nosotros are all addicts of some sort. Here'south the thing, nosotros can't pretend to take conquered the problem. Whether nosotros eat, potable, spend, talk, criticize, complain... too much or also little, it can be controlled through God'southward grace and our willingness to accept each day every bit it is.

One of the things I actually liked about this book is each short essay/story is simply numbered simply not dated.  That way if I don't read it each mean solar day I don't have the pressure of being behind or having to catch upward.

This collection is relatable and encouraging. It is reassuring and supportive. There is hope woven throughout its pages. Thank you, Leeana Tankersley, for writing and sharing.

Best quote from the book: "Growth and healing kickoff past giving ourselves the permission to pursue them. If nosotros aren't willing to testify up and participate, so chances are, our souls will be lost on some level. And chances are, it will impact the people who want to share life with the states." (pg. 210)

3.5 Stars

Always We Begin Once more --- the championship pulled from a line in The Rule of Saint Benedict --- is a kind of devotional work that features 100 brusque readings of encouragement for those struggling to reboot their lives after a menstruation of pain, grieving, stagnancy, etc. If you are such a reader and have, of late, been feeling overwhelmed, ashamed, bogged downwardly, or otherwise "stuck" in life, writer Leeana Tankersley is here to remind you that each new mean solar day is a perfect opportunity to first again on a fresh page (in this case, both literally and figuratively). Right from the first page of her introduction, Tankersley takes a moment to bond with the reader, sharing that she knows something of starting over, having recently been forced into the process following a divorce she did not desire or choose.

Tankersley describes this book as: "...some of the reminders I render to over and over over again, the truths that have sustained me. Hither they are, a collection of daily readings that I hope will companion you as you stride into each new moment of your particular path." Each new section opens with a quote, either a relevant bible passage, memorable words from historical figures, or an inspiring line from motivational speakers over the years. As far as Tankersley'south own offerings of encouragement, some of the ideas she touches upon:

* Giving yourself permission to be a perpetual novice at life, and to embrace periods of "starting over" as holy spaces for your spirit to residuum and regroup.

* Remembering that beginning once again does not necessarily equate to failure. Seeking a support grouping through a hard time does not equate weakness. Information technology means you are human being, and humans tend to thrive most in community environments.

* Allow your life be messy sometimes! Learn to observe ways to laugh through the tough times, embrace your inner child, and develop empathy FOR YOURSELF!

* "Invitation in the Agitation" --- sometimes difficulties (whether in the form of a person or situation) are placed in our path to teach the states lessons about ourselves --- or skills we need to develop for after challenges --- that we would not otherwise learn... at least not as successfully... sometimes the agitation is secretly an invitation for spiritual / emotional / character growth.

* Riding out the "Messy Center" seasons of life, "1 of those protracted, unresolved, uncertain seasons...y'all are not at the outset, simply yous are nowhere near closure either. And the middle stretches on indefinitely. It tries your stamina, your faith, your belief in yourself (and perhaps all of humanity), and all you want is to hold your jiff until it'due south all over...'Once this is resolved, so I can become on living,' I secretly say to myself. ...Someone has suggested to me that mayhap almost of life is a Messy Heart. I don't want to hear or believe that, just information technology'due south likely truthful. Life rarely finds that elusive equilibrium we're all waiting for. We have to do the living in the midst of the mess."

* Soul Bullies --- Tankersley walks you through how to face bullies and naysayers, out in the world or inside yourself: "You will have every proficient intention. You will be armed with resolve and hope and new noesis, and all you accept to do is wake up and the Soul Bullies will be on to you. They desire to paralyze, shame, suffocate, embarrass and silence you. It'southward just what they do. But we cannot let them accept the last word nigh us. We cannot. They want you to believe information technology's over, you're washed for, things accept come up to a expressionless end... but sometimes walls are doors, and so even if you are facing what appears to exist an catastrophe, in that location might be some redemptive new life waiting beyond..."

Each department ends on a prompt question for idea, which as well offers a lined space for readers to write in their response. Occassionally in that location are passages that are a trivial repetitive in the writing, sometimes reading similar a pupil trying to see give-and-take count requirements on a writing consignment. The department-end prompts themselves likewise feel a piffling more forced in after segments, near similar her inspiration for them was running a little more sparse equally she got closer to finishing the volume.

While some of her personal stories I read with a grain of skepticism, much of what Tankersley brings to the table in the way of encouragement / emotional cheerleading to readers I found quite dainty and useful. Most of information technology is not necessarily groundbreaking --- like many of its type, this book has a lot of repackaged ideas --- just that doesn't make them wrong. I like Tankersley's pick of warm-but-existent wrapping!

A message of hope for those struggling.

I love the premise of this book. No matter the circumstances, nosotros can begin over again. Taken from St. Benedict, "E'er nosotros begin over again" is a message of hope. That each step forrard is a new beginning. That any happened previously, the gift of outset once more is as easy every bit making one single footstep.

The beautiful message of author Leeana Tankersley'south Always We Begin Again: Stepping into the Next, New Moment is served to readers in one hundred opportunities for healing. Each topic begins with a quote, sometimes from the Bible, sometimes another notable source. Ms. Tankersley covers each topic, cartoon on her ain life experiences, and ends with the reader's self-exploration and writing exercise.

The topics of Always We Begin Again sometimes feel random, but they're tied together by the theme that whatever angst of life is currently holding u.s.a. back from loving ourselves or not living up to our full life potential in union with God, we are able to tackle information technology – to overcome – to begin again.

Ms. Tankersley offers usa glimpses into her own struggles and triumphs at beginning again. We all face many of these hurdles at one time or another. It's the human condition. The dazzler of it is that it unites united states of america and we tin celebrate together at the idea of commencement again.

Some people might consider Always Nosotros Brainstorm Once more a devotion, although I don't remember that'south the perfect definition, just I can't retrieve of a amend one. There are micro-prayers and prompts that encourage the reader to work with God, to talk to him, to include him in our struggles, merely the overall focus feels more nigh the cocky-assessment aspect than the religious.

How this volume affected me:
I'm in more than of a 'tweaking' stage of my life than 're-vamping', and then I'm not currently dealing with many of the angst bug covered, but did observe many topics to exist pertinent to everyday life and overall encouraging a deepening relationship with God.

One particular topic that hit home for me was Sabbath = Cease. I've been reflecting on this personally for some time now. I detect that I enjoy the "productivity" that I've convinced myself comes with running on the hamster wheel. One of my personal goals has been to "go on holy the Sabbath" and I continually neglect at stopping for God and family. The other twenty-four hour period, my husband actually said to me, "Why are you running?" I was literally running from my upstairs home part downstairs to the front porch where I was working on my laptop. I was running because I was working on the launch for my upcoming book. When I answered him, I realized how ridiculous it was - how hyped upwards I was over naught urgent. I need to learn to STOP, not only for myself and my hubby, just to spend more fourth dimension listening to God. This volume provided another dose of reality for me.

Who would bask this book:
Readers who like devotions would savor this book. Anyone overwhelmed with life, feeling deflated, defeated, or broken. Anyone feeling "lone" in their struggles. Anyone needing God to help them accept the step of beginning over again. In curt, anyone dealing with the malaise of everyday life would do good from this book.

Leeana uses mainly quotes with a sprinkling of Bible verses throughout. But her anecdotes and writing and the fashion she spurs you forth on the journey toward kickoff again are all but truly beautiful and moving. My favorite aspect of Always Nosotros Brainstorm again are the reflective questions included at the end of each mean solar day—designed to assistance us describe near to God where we are; they are so enlightening. When choosing a book, I often lean towards selecting a book that will encourage me and help me to grow spiritually. I as well am fatigued to devotionals. "Always We Brainstorm Again" meets all three of those requirements! I had never read a volume past this writer, and so I was excited to dig in.

The book is split into 100 daily readings. I read the book in a few days, so it can be a quick read, but I would recommend reading information technology over 100 days. This makes it easier to assimilate and reverberate on what yous are reading. Each day's reading was near two pages, and ended with a reflection question or two. The master message of the book is that no matter what happens, each mean solar day is a new opportunity to begin once again.

I plant many nuggets of truth within the pages of this book, but a few of my favorite quotes were:

"God is beside, before, and beneath usa. We sink dorsum into God'south great dear and provision and we choose residue instead of relentless trying."

"When it comes to transformation, God's wrath is non the fuel. God'south dearest is the fuel. God is not a divine bully. He is a nurturing, protective mother and father. God and then loved the globe that he sent united states of america a way out of our ain closed hoops of striving and trying. He sent us a new mode: his grace. All of it, all of it, was motivated by love."

"Your circumstances do non define yous. God does. So no affair how messy the Messy Middle is that you're in right now, I believe at that place is a part of you that is deeper and more essential than annihilation you are going through. Your problems are not your identity."

"Stress, anarchy, urgency, and panic don't have to control our lives. Nosotros actually have a say. We can allow ourselves the dignity of responding to our circumstances, fifty-fifty changing our circumstances, instead of just resigning to them."

"Nosotros come to the door with our maladies and brokenness simply to be received with revolutionary love. We come to the door with our jumbled-up fearfulness and worry and our ferocious intensity, and nosotros are met with grace. We come to the door, and we realize Chris was in that location knocking, all along."

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a daily devotional to outset or cease their mean solar day, and for anyone who needs a lilliputian encouragement. I received a re-create of this book from the Revell Bloggers Program, in return for an honest review.

I am normally a fast reader at over 70 pages per hour. All the same these meditations are then powerful, I can only read one at a time. Leeana has a souvenir of putting you in touch with your pain points and talking with both frankness and love. If you are suffering, this volume can help you lot encounter the light ahead.

I've been using this book in my afternoon quiet time. She provides a thought-provoking question at the finish of each one, and I use it equally the basis for prayer. This book is making the shortlist of my favorite books of 2019. It's dissimilar and memorable, and very helpful for exploring your issues with deeper faith.

I received a preview copy of Always We Begin Over again from Revell.

This book is divided into 100 curt, bite sized readings on beginning again. While some of them were really good, a lot of them I did not identify with. I still wonder about the premise, "always we begin again" and wonder if information technology is Scriptural. Also, I could not telephone call this a devotional, because many readings had no Scripture in them at all. Each reading did take a question or prayer to fill in at the end.

This writer has such a way with words. Truly beautiful. And I think it was Ike talking to her over coffee every morning. Just resonated a lot. It's probably better than I give it credit for. I listened to it on sound, and it's hard to really appreciate a book that is set up in many short chapters, kind of in a devotional style. You tin can write and recall and journal along with the capacity, but that is cumbersome on sound, every bit I am driving to work, for instance. Probably in newspaper form, it's bang-up.
